We are happy to announce that applications for Frederick Street residence are opening on 13th February for cash and bursary students. If you are a cash or bursary student, please go to adowa.co.za/apply to apply for residence! We can’t wait to have you.

We are still awaiting accreditation from the necessary institutions. This means that NSFAS students cannot apply yet. We are hoping we get accreditation soon. We will advise students on the next steps and when they can move in as soon as we have more information.

We will keep communicating with students on our socials and will let you guys know as soon as we have more information.

We are still taking in visitors – booked viewings and walk-ins are welcome.

The residence manager at Frederick Street is Sylvester Hlongwane. His contact number is 0695081549. If you have any issues or if you need help, you can contact him.

Ellis Park Student Village:

Students can create a profile to apply and sign their lease online, however walks ins can also be done, where one of our Leasing agents will take you through the process. So make your way to Ellis Park and secure your space once you have received an approval email.

We are also still taking visitors – bookings and walk-ins during the following times:
9am – 5pm Monday to Friday
9am – 1pm Saturdays

  • How do I apply for 2023 accommodation?

    Applying for accommodation at Adowa Living is very easy. Head over to adowa.co.za/apply and fill out the application form. Make sure you use a computer and have a stable internet connection to make the process easier. Please get in touch with us at [email protected] if you have any more specific questions and we’ll get back to you ASAP.

  • When will we receive feedback about our applications?

    The online application platform will generate an email to you as confirmation of your ongoing application status. Click on the provided link to access the confirmation email. Please email [email protected] for more information.

  • How will I know if I have been accepted?

    You will receive an email saying that you’ve been accepted and then you can sign your lease online. If you haven’t received your email yet, your application may still be going through the vetting process. You can contact our technical team for an update on the process through the chat support button on adowa.co.za/apply

  • When does the EPSV residence open in 2023?

    ADOWA Living’s Ellis Park Student Village opens for occupation from 1 February 2023. You can apply now through adowa.co.za/apply. You can move in as soon as you have been accepted.

  • When does the Frederick Street residence open in 2023?

    ADOWA Living’s Frederick Street Student Accommodation opens for occupation from 18 February 2023. You can apply now through adowa.co.za/apply. You can move in as soon as you have been accepted.

  • How will I know if I have been approved for Adowa accommodation?

    You will receive an email to confirm that you have been approved for accommodation at ADOWA for 2023.

  • How do NSFAS students apply to stay at Adowa Living?

    ADOWA Living does accept NSFAS funded students. Proof of NSFAS funding is required with application for accommodation. The student must be approved NSFAS funding. Student must have qualified for entry into the learning institution first, and then have approved NSFAS funding.

    From the total funding amount, a certain amount per month is allocated for accommodation. Rental for NSFAS students was R4,554 per month in 2022. Applications are open to all students, not just 1st year students! Students who have successfully been granted funding for ongoing study (based on academic performance) are also eligible.

  • What fees are payable with my initial application?

    There is no cost to apply. If your application is accepted, there is a lease fee of R700. Please note that this fee does not apply to NSFAS and Bursary students.

  • What fees are payable before I can move in?

    Cash/Private Student: Deposit equivalent to 1 month’s rental.

    Foreign students: Deposit equivalent to 2 months’ rental.

  • I’m having technical issues with my application. Please help.

    If you have technical issues with your applications, please go back to the application page (adowa.co.za/apply). Then go to the chat box at the bottom of the page. Click on the Instagram DM or Facebook Messenger logo and you can talk to the tech team. They will be able to answer your technical questions

  • What should I do if I cannot do an online application?

  • Can I apply in person?

    You can apply on site and get assistance with your online application from our team. This does not mean you can move in the same day as your application will still need to go through the vetting process to be accepted.

  • What is the vetting process?

    The vetting process is the process that occurs once you have submitted your application. Our team will then go through your application to ensure all the relevant documents have been submitted and all information us correct. You’ll then receive further communication as to whether you have been accepted or not.

  • If I already stayed at EPSV, do I need to re-apply for 2023?

    Yes, you will need to apply again to live at EPSV in 2023. You can apply through https://adowa-living.co.za/ and we will be in touch with you shortly.

  • When can students move into Ellis Park Student Village?

    Adowa EPSV opens for occupation on 1 February 2023. You can move in once your application has been approved.

  • When can students move into Frederick Street?

    Adowa Frederick Street opens for occupation on 18 February 2023. Cash and bursary student can move in after 18 February if your application has been approved. Unfortunately, NSFAS students cannot move in yet, as we are still awaiting accreditation from TUT.

  • When do our documents need to be submitted?

    The payment process below is explained by UJ on their 2023 welcome letter for students:

    • Students will be asked to sign their consent forms online on the UJ Portal.
    • Students will then be able to upload their lease agreement and invoice documents online (10 months).
    • Verification of documents done by Student Finance at UJ.
    • Loading of student allowances by Student Finance at UJ.
    • Payment of accommodation by students through various merchants (Imbizo, FUNDI, A.E Switch).

  • Do Cash/Private students pay the same prices as NSFAS students?

    No. The price for accommodation differs for NSFAS students Cash students and Bursary students. If you are a Cash student, you will cover the cost of your room. If you are a NSFAS student, then your bursary will cover the cost of your room.

  • If I am a NSFAS student, can I be evicted?

    Yes, you can be evicted. All students, if they do not pay or they violate the residence rules, can be evicted.

  • Is there a top-up for NSFAS students at EPSV?

    There is no top up for NSFAS students at EPSV for shared rooms. There are no single rooms available at EPSV, so no top up is required.

  • Is there a top-up for NSFAS students for Frederick Street for single and sharing rooms? If so, please provide further details?

  • Are we allowed to have visitors?

    No more than 3 visitors per person at any given time, subject to restrictions that may be imposed at management’s sole discretion. Visitors have access to the building from 10:00am – 10:00pm

    Sleep overs are permitted: R150.00 per visitor per overnight.

  • Can we move in on Sundays?

    Yes. You can move in to EPSV on Sundays, however it will be slower to process everyone as we only have our Residence Manager, Mathaba, and an assistant on Standby. It will not be the whole team.

    Apartment Layout with 8-12 students sharing a unit.

    2 persons-sharing rooms.

    Apartments have their own kitchens and bathrooms. Fully fitted kitchens with dining table, fridge, microwave & stove with oven.

    In each bedroom every student has a bed, a mattress, clothing cupboard, a desk with a study lamp, a chair, a bookshelf, a pin board, and a bin.

    Yes. We have Wi-Fi throughout the residence with limitless data. You can connect 2 devices.

  • Does Adowa provide transport?

    Adowa Living does not provide any transport for EPSV students as there are lots of transport facilities nearby.

    Adowa Living will provide transport for TUT students staying at Frederick Street. Adowa provides transport to and from TUT main campus only.

  • What other fees are involved?

    Students will be provided with Electricity and Laundry vouchers each month. They will be required to pay a top-up fee should they deplete the electricity and laundry vouchers.

  • Do I need to have an approval letter from NSFAS to apply for accommodation?

    Yes, you do need to get an approval letter from NSFAS. But if you do not have one yet, you can still apply and can send this to us later on.

  • When do our documents need to be submitted?

    Please submit all documents with your online application. If you are unable to provide all your documents immediately, apply online and then make sure to get your documents sorted. When you have your documents, send them to [email protected] ASAP.
