Meet Our Team

Mr Sisa Rafuza

Chief Executive Officer

As the founder and CEO of Adowa, Sisa provides the guiding vision for Adowa whilst providing strategic direction and supporting the team in their execution of the company’s overall strategy. Sisa manages, develops and sustains effective working relations with all stakeholders to ensure that the company’s objectives are achieved. He is also very involved in the finance and property development side of Adowa’s business and his hands on leadership style keeps him engaged in all aspects of the business.

Prior to starting Adowa; Sisa spent 14 years working as an equity analyst and fund manager. Sisa started his career at Metropolitan Asset Managers now MMI Investments and later joined Sanlam Investment Management (SIM). At MMI Sisa co-managed an Equity fund and an SRI/Private Equity fund. Other responsibilities he had included researching Telecommunications, Media, Electronics, Pharmaceuticals and Healthcare companies. At SIM, Sisa was responsible for equity research of small and midcap companies and also he was co-manager of the small and midcap funds.

Sisa holds directorship in serveral companies spanning from Property, IT and other various industries.

Mr Vuyo Mzini

Chief Financial Officer

Vuyo is the Chief Financial Officer. He is in charge of financial and economic analyses of proposed capital expenditure and operating profit plans for Adowa’s current portfolio together with pipeline assets. He is also responsible for maintaining the integrity of financial management information and corporate governance structures of the company. He manages Adowa’s investment portfolio, ensuring portfolio growth, and underwriting deals. He utilizes his skill set to assist our current and potential clients with all aspects of the investment and/or development process. He also oversees property management activities of the group.

Vuyo is a chartered accountant by profession, with extensive experience in investment management, business development and corporate finance. His previous roles included research and project execution and management in private equity as an investment associate, and M&A activity, capital raisings, valuations and financial modelling in corporate finance.

Ms Siyavuya Papu

Executive – Project Management

Siya serves as the Head Executive Project Management for Adowa. Siya oversees and manages all our projects on a national level. Building and managing project teams and ensuring quality control throughout our different project life cycles are central to her position. She is also instrumental in the transition of sites from construction to operational status.

With over 9 years’ experience in the built environment industry, Siya began her career in the architecture field, and spent the last few years working as a project manager for STAG African, a property development group that specialises in pioneering Innovative building technologies for the construction of student accommodation in and around South Africa. She managed and monitored their construction sites, tracking development and liaising between different stakeholders throughout the project life cycle.

Siya is also currently the administrator for the Association of College and University Housing Officers International – South African Chapter (ACUHO-I SAC). ACUHO-I SAC is a home for everyone who is the university housing profession in South Africa, that provides access to resources and experiences addressing the profession’s most complex issues.

Ellen Dube

Non-executive director

Ellen sits on the board of directors of Adowa as a non-executive director. Her role is to provide support to the executive team, giving an independent perspective on the appraisal of investments.

Ellen is a certified property valuer registered with the South African Council for the Property Valuers Profession (SACPVP). She has extensive property valuation experience spanning various types of properties and several investment property funds. She is currently employed as an Asset Manager by the Public Investment Corporation (PIC).

Prior to joining the PIC, Ellen worked for Eris Property Group within their valuations division, Nedbank Property Finance and as Director of One Focus Property Consultants. In her work experience, which spans over 10-years, she has been responsible for valuations of properties held in funds (both listed and unlisted), including those of Metropolitan, Momentum, Growthpoint, Redefine, Old Mutual Properties and Pareto Property Portfolios. Her knowledge of commercial property valuations extends across major property sectors, including super regional retail centres, commercial and industrial properties, vacant land, mixed use developments and special purpose properties. Her previous work experience also includes representing clients at municipal property objections and appeals hearings.

Lusanda Kali

Non-executive director

Lusanda sits on the board of directors of Adowa as a non-executive director. Her role is to provide support to the executive team, giving an independent perspective on the appraisal of investments.

Lusanda is a Chartered Accountant by profession, and is also a CFA Charter holder. She is currently employed by the Public Investment Corporation (PIC) as an Associate Principal, responsible for the execution and management of equity and debt investment transactions. She focuses on infrastructure related sectors including telecommunications, transportation, energy, mining and education.

Prior to joining the PIC, Lusanda worked in the financial services industry spanning audit, corporate advisory and development finance. Her focus has been on the broader industrial services and infrastructure space where she has audited various companies, advised others in raising funding and monitored investments throughout the transaction lifecycle. She has expansive exposure to the rest of the African continent and has worked in a number of South, East, West and North African countries.
