Sisa Rafuza

Chief Executive Officer

As the founder and CEO of Adowa, Sisa provides the guiding vision for Adowa whilst providing strategic direction and supporting the team in their execution of the company’s overall strategy. Sisa manages, develops and sustains effective working relations with all stakeholders to ensure that the company’s objectives are achieved. He is also very involved in the finance and property development side of Adowa’s business and his hands on leadership style keeps him engaged in all aspects of the business.

Prior to starting Adowa; Sisa spent 14 years working as an equity analyst and fund manager. Sisa started his career at Metropolitan Asset Managers now MMI Investments and later joined Sanlam Investment Management (SIM). At MMI Sisa co-managed an Equity fund and an SRI/Private Equity fund. Other responsibilities he had included researching Telecommunications, Media, Electronics, Pharmaceuticals and Healthcare companies. At SIM, Sisa was responsible for equity research of small and midcap companies and also he was co-manager of the small and midcap funds.

Sisa holds directorship in serveral companies spanning from Property, IT and other various industries.

Misheck Chingaya CA(SA)

Chief Financial Officer

Misheck serves as the Chief Financial Officer for Adowa. He is responsible for providing strategic and financial guidance to ensure that the company’s financial commitments are met. He oversees the preparation of the company’s financial accounts and budgets, the development, implementation and maintenance of internal controls, policies, and procedures.

Misheck is a Chartered Accountant (SA) by profession and has over 17 years’ Investment Banking experience across Sub-Saharan Africa. He was involved in various private sector industries including more relevant exposure being in construction, manufacturing, facilities management and property development and the public sector.

Lerotholi Makhaola

Acting Executive Developments

Lerotholi Makhaola is a Professionally Registered Architect with 19 years of Post Registration industry experience. He began his career in Port Elizabeth as a Professional Architect and Director of Stauch Vorster Architects (Port Elizabeth) (Now SVA International) where he developed the full range of Architectural competencies involving the design of technical detailing and on-site supervision during construction of buildings across typologies from Corporate Offices, Banks and Shopping Centres.

Lerotholi is au fait with the student accommodation typology having been responsible for the design of Adowa’s 1st Student Accommodation Project at the time he worked as an Architect for Stauch Vorster Architects (SVA International). Lerotholi served in senior leadership positions (Director & Associate Executive) at prominent commercial Architectural practice SVA International in their Port Elizabeth and Johannesburg offices before becoming a founding partner at 472 Studio Group, an Architectural and Built environment infrastructural solutions company, of which Lerotholi headed up the Property Development portfolio.

Lerotholi gained experience in PPP turnkey solutions environment. Lerotholi Served as President of The South African Institute of Black Property Practitioners (SAIBPP) with a specific interest in Learning & Growth (Education) setting up the Student Chapters of SAIBPP as well as serving on the Real Estate Committee of the Services SETA as well as the Black Business Council Infrastructure Development Committee.

Shivon Wiggins

Non-executive director

Shivon sits on the board of directors of Adowa as a non-executive director. Her role is to provide support to the executive team, giving an independent perspective to the appraisal of investments.

Shivon graduated from the University of the Witwatersrand a BSc in Town and Regional Planning.  She has, for almost 35 years, been a dedicated developmental advocate and champion, with a sustained passion for the property industry. Ms Wiggins has extensive executive, non-executive and senior managerial experience in private business, at non-profit organisations and on national, provincial and local government levels. She has been a non-executive director on several boards and a member of the Municipal Demarcation Board, as well as several town planning and land use tribunals.  She currently the Operations Director at Spaces Places & Partnerships.

Zanele Monnakgotla

Non-executive director

Zanele sits on the board of directors of Adowa as a non-executive director. Her role is to provide support to the executive team, giving an independent perspective to the appraisal of investments.

Zanele currently holds the following qualifications: : B.Com , Master in Finance and Master of Laws in Tax .

She has over 20 years financial services experience having worked for a number of leading financial services companies in South Africa and on the continent namely Investec  and the Industrial Development Corporation (“IDC”), The Development bank of Southern Africa ( “DBSA”) and Ecobank Transnational ( “Ecobank “) She  has  vast experience as a board member having sat on numerous listed and unlisted board and on boards of international companies.

Adowa Student Housing Development
